So there seems to be an issue. Let´s hope it only affects some of the D750s out there.
My friend bought one and we´ll check it soon. But some people could never reproduce the issue.
I decided to buy a Df as a backup to my D600.

Re: Sony NEX 6 - my new allround APS-C system
I bought a G5 for a client with coworkers who have to take photos on events and it is almost fool-proof.
I like it a lot. They use the normal kit lens, I sold them mine, but use a smaller Panasonic power zoom on my E-PL5.
I´m looking hard at the GM1, though.

Re: Sony NEX 6 - my new allround APS-C system
Hi Stany, I have been using the NEX system since 2010 when it came out and have been adding lenses ever since. It´s the NEX 6, though, which I feel is a mature camera. As for my A900, it had to go in favor of the D800 which I still have and will keep for a long time. Instead of adding a Sigma 35 1.4...

I don´t think Nikon will be able to charge the same price the D300 initially cost, it will have to compete against the D7100 and the D600. The market has changed somewhat in the past 4 years me thinks. I think 1700 Euros is realistic, even if it implements a lot of tech from the D4. I wonder what se...

A few years ago I found better quality in images from FX cameras than from DX. That was the D300 compared with the D3. Nowadays I don´t see any difference between D7000 and D800. I think the D600 would make a nice camera for weddings. With the volume of images one usually takes, 36 MPix could be a little over the top. I love using it for group images, though. I think, Stany is right, LR uses a small jpg from the camera (which is used to show an image on the LCD) and then loads the RAW file in the development module.

I´ve never tried Gimp, but I assume it is almost as complex as Photoshop itself - anyway this is what I read somewhere.
So I recommend Photoshop Elements, it does cost some money, but it is a great and capable image editor for the rest of us.

Hi Vincent, I got all the lenses available at the moment and like all of them, very decent performers. The pancake is nice and compact, but the kit zoom may be the family and travel lens 10-30 mm. I also think it is not selling as well as the D800, but as it is with consumer products, they will get cheaper after some time on the market anyway. I was thinking about buying one of those pinhole lenses, they cost around 27 Euros.
Anyone tried any of these?

Thanks Thom, for the clarification!
The question is, if 2 MP are sufficient for your use, Stany?

I believed you AA2, the floods affect Nikon and Sony which will force them to again shift production and delay products.
What a horrible year with such catastrophes.

Very nice, Rita! Have you preordered your X10 already?
I went for the Canon S95 in the meantime, couldn´t resist since I could buy it new for 280 Euros.

I think it would be more logical to issue a D4X @ 36 Mpix. But one day we will know for sure
Re: Nikon D3s
So I shot a wedding yesterday and I used the 50 1.4 from further away to blur background and got terrible AF results. It´s ok from 2 or 3 m away, but everything further than that creates problems. I can´t remember having this issue with the D3 ... So yesterday I had lots of oof images, sometimes 4-6...
Re: Nikon D3s
Hi Stany, I mainly use primes in my photography, so I check those.
I measure at different distances most of the time. Usually at a close distance and further away. The distances I usually use in real world.

Re: Nikon D3s
Yesterday, I tested the Sigma 50 at f 1.4 for AF accuracy. Seems absolutely Ok to me:

Re: D800 to be announced within 12 weeks from now.
It was said that production would be back to near-normal in fall. It´s so sad what happened to Japan, but still the world is waiting for their wonderful photographic products (no, I don´t feel obliged to buy Leica, even though I find the S2 very exciting).
Re: Nikon D3s
I hope so, too. But I doubt the high ISO performance and the price, as well. I´m expecting price increases.
Hopefully, I´m wrong

Re: Nikon D3s
Those were just my first snaps. Nothing serious. If you meter on the rat, you will have to dial in -1 EV at least, as it is bright beige. I tried 12800 and then 8000 and all at - 1 EV. Will have to try the camera in other lighting situations. I took a snapshot of my goddaughter who visited me today ...

Hallo Anik,
I uploaded the RAW file here:

Here is one which is sharper:

Of course, it was taken in complete darkness
Oh, and thank you for the great transfer!

Nikon D3s
So, the brown truck stopped by and dropped my D3s. As I´ve used a D3 for 3 years now I´m eager to see how it holds up to the myth. I put it to ISO 12800 and clicked a few frames near the rat cage. I frequently photograph my pets in near darkness, as they love to hide away. Here is one at ISO 12800 w...

Re: Fuji releases the X10.
I saw the Fuji guys presenting it and I, too, am looking to buy it.
But it all depends on the usability. Fuji is not known for speedy AF or writing speeds.
But the colors are usually brilliant.
As sensor tech moves on, the smaller sized sensors seem to get better and better.

Blame it on Fukushima, I guess. It was estimated that Japanese firms would need half a year to sort things out and that would be sometime in Fall.

Re: Every day more D3's for sale...
The D3s is a classic on its own. So I expect it to come down in price very slowly, maybe next year around this time. If the D4 can´t reach its high ISO performance at higher pixel count, then it´ll be a no brainer to many. But let´s wait and see how good the D4 will be. It will come eventually, prob...

Re: Bryan Peterson on D800 and D4...
Well, it´s not so easy to predict new announcements, as there are usually quite a few prototypes floating around and not everything which is leaked will finally hit the market. Fukushima certainly made things more difficult.
