Well, if your reasoning is true, then Nikon will release the D4 and D400.
Buying different FX-sensors may not make sense economically.
Well, we will all find out soon.

Yes, there are many ways of creating "glow" or soft light. I did some of that and then add some blur to smoothe skin pores (not too much, though).

My Sony A900 is only operated at ISO 200-320 and that´s what it is made for.

The candle light shot is spectacular noisewise, I do see posterization on the forehead, but it could be easily corrected in post.

Re: Nikon D700 & Canon 5DMkII side by side comparison...

Stany, sorry, but I think there is still something not optimal about detail/sharpness in your crop. Unfortunately, we live so far apart, we cannot just put the A900 and 5DII to the test next to each other, but I´d suspect I´d get much better results with the A900 and the 24-70. I´m selling off my Ni...

Count me out, wrong brand, wrong crop factor ;) I´m already into the FX game too far.

Re: Are all Zeiss lenses MF only?

There you go, James. Sony somehow can produce Zeiss-designed lenses with AF functionality.
I once read that all other Zeiss-designed lenses would be too expensive with AF for license reasons.

Cosina makes the ZF line, but it is another Japanese company that produces for Minolta.

Re: Nikon D700 & Canon 5DMkII side by side comparison...

Stany, when I purchased the A900 last year, I meant to buy two or three sigma or tamron primes with it. I tried about five different lenses, also by Minolta and then bought Zeiss lenses and never looked back. If you want those 24 MP, you will need AF accuracy, vibrationless shooting, top grade lense...

In that price range I´d probably go for the real thing, a MF back ;)

Oh, that´s a new feature! Great to hear that 1000 pix is possible.

The left arm is there on the original ;)

Many people report they were abducted by aliens and examined etc. I think these are halluzinations medically speaking.

B/W portrait of today

Liked it in black and white. If you´re interested I´ll post the colored variant.

Re: Budget FF camera from Canon coming soon???

The 7D was rumored parallel to the 5D some time ago. People said it would be a higher spec 5D, but who knows.
What I find more interesting is the Sony A850 which is said to be a below 2.000 Euro 24 Mpix cam. The street prices could hit 1.700 Euros soon.

Re: Overprocessed ?

I think this effect is rather subtle. I see it everywhere in images and I like it.
In this case I would use it on a copy of the original at 80% transparency.
But overall I like it very much.

Re: conversion to monochrome

Hi Leen, I think the best way would be either the Channel Mixer or a black and white layer.
There you have the option of dosing RGB channels. Think b/w filters on analog cameras.

Re: I was playing with a 5DMkII yesterday...

It is probably me, but I don´t like the ergonomics of the 5DI or II. As you may know I owned the 5DI and to me it was a spartanic camera. Either use the middle autofocus point and reframe or focus manually. It had its charms and so does the 5DII, but the D3 just fits my hands so well, it is the near...

I shot the 5DII on Saturday in my studio. It has excellent IQ (comparable with my A900). If only it had a decent body.

Hi James, I was also buried under a pile of work for the past months. It´s so hard to take a break when you´re self-employed. I´m trying to reshift that. Life is too precious to waste it on work. So good success with your product photography business. I always try to make up for my photography in po...

Re: Is Fuji DSLR definitively history?

Hard to tell, the odds are against another Fuji DSLR in Nikon mount. The market is too small for such a camera, it would be too expensive. Not that I wouldn´t want such a camera, but would I pay 3000 $ for a 12 Mpix camera ... (well, I might even do it, but I´m crazy). I speculate we will see lots o...
