Re: Nikon brings AF-S DX NIKKOR 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5G ED
excellent, but the price is a bit crazy (around 1000 EUR list price).
There is definitely a need for such a lens, and this is an intelligent move from Nikon, but there are excellent comparable products on the market for a fraction of the price if you want to go wide, among others the Sigma 10-20...
The good thing is that it makes the too expensive 12-24 more or less obsolete, because it covers a very nice focal range... I am curious about the first tests to see the optical quality of that lens.

Guy, there will always be people who think just only Nikon lenses are good enough for them. If a Sigma. Tamron or Tokina would produce something that is twice as good for half the money they still would buy the Nikon equivalent.
Usually you will never see anything from them but test images that try to prove they are right. Well, if they are satisfied with just only testing lenses and trying to convince anyone they are right, they are a pretty harmless.
Without any doubt you will see those tests on Dpreview before the lens has been released. Too much money or too much fantasy often is a good excuse for ignorance. ;-)

I'll stick with my Sigma 10-20 which I can't really fault, unlike the Nikkor 12-24 I sold because it was positively dreadful.

and BTW, I am a big fan of the Tokina 12-24, among my favorite lenses on DX...
and on FX I use the 14-24, really a superlative lens, very impressive.
