Back lit sensor technology is rumoured to be a solution to reduce the noise in a sensor, which would be a great solution for noise control @ high iso while using APS and smaller size sensors...

Someday, we will have 20 stops DR, iso100K, 50MP, 10-500mm FL, and it will be in the frame of our glasses. That would make my day at the wedding very nice!
The Exmor Sony HX1 is not anything special. In fact conventional CCD or CMOS is better, but the idea is great. I guess they are fiddling with it on the cheaper P&S cams and then it will make it to the FF soon enough. Since Nikon uses Sony (mostly) they will be in good shape, Canon better get going if this truly is the future - which it appears to be.
