After 5 years of macrophotography I give priority to composition rather than extreme magnification... Underneath a humble attempt.
All images taken with D700 and sifgma 180mm, handhold, PUFlash @ 1/320 sec and F18
Thanks for your attention

Nice set as usual Stany!
I like the middle one too - I think it might look even better to my eyes if it was cropped from the right and bottom so that the fly's eye is at the bottom third position.
Great images though, keep up the good work!

I like your idea of working with composition rather than extreme magnification stany.
A very nice set of macro images.
I am not really a spider guy, which probably is why I prefer the first two :)

Thanks Thomas for your kind reaction. I'll follow your idea to recompose, post it later on.James wrote:Nice set as usual Stany!I like the middle one too - I think it might look even better to my eyes if it was cropped from the right and bottom so that the fly's eye is at the bottom third position.Great images though, keep up the good work!

Re: Priority to composition rather than extreme magnification...
Thanks Thomas, I'm not a spider guy neither, I changed my 105VR for an 180mm macro to be able to keep further away, but now I miss the VR to calm down handshake because of my fear for spiders...(half joke - I really dislike and fear spiders...)Duplo wrote:I like your idea of working with composition rather than extreme magnification stany.

Re: Priority to composition rather than extreme magnification...
I have contemplated that move myself from the 105VR to the 180 sigma, but will probably end up getting the K-mount version of the 180 and make use of the in body stabilisation of my pentax system for that particular application and keep the 105VR as I have really come to like that lens.StanyB wrote:Thanks Thomas, I'm not a spider guy neither, I changed my 105VR for an 180mm macro to be able to keep further away, but now I miss the VR to calm down handshake because of my fear for spiders...(half joke - I really dislike and fear spiders...)Duplo wrote:I like your idea of working with composition rather than extreme magnification stany.
