D800 on October 26th?

According to the underneath (Japanese) website, -http://translate.google.com/translate?sl=ja&tl=en&js=n&prev=_n&hl=en&zn=en&ie=UTF-8&layout=2&eotf=1&u=http%3A%2F%2Fdigicame-info.com%2F2011%2F09%2Fd800d7003600.html-,
and confirmed by Nikonrumors(http://nikonrumors.com/2011/10/03/the-name-will-be-nikon-d800-the-sensor-will-be-36mp-99-probability.aspx/#more-23268) with a probability of 99% there would be finally a D700 successor with 36Mp to be released this month... :o :o :o
October 26the would be the date to be announced and released on Nov 24th...

Chasseur d'Images takes over the NR-D800 predictions

Post by Stany Buyle »

I am amazed that Chasseur d'Images takes over nearly literally the NR-predictions about a 36Mp D800 on their website. Also they praise NR in heaven in their comments as an excellent website, they even call NR "partner"... :?
While Chasseur d'Images has excellent contacts in the photo industry since decades(established in 1976 by Guy-Michel Cogné) it might be that CI serves as a major source of information to NR... :ugeek:

The fact that Chasseur d'Images seems to take this rumour very serious gives, -at least to me- lots of credibility to this mind blowing D700-successor.
"D900"... They write that they are only sceptical about the naming, "D900 would sound more logic to them..."

I would not be amazed that the Chasseur d'Images lab is already testing that camera in the field for a complete preview in their end-of-the-month edition... ;)

The rumoured specs seem to be correct, no info on product naming though and reservation about release and availability date.

We know who AA1 and AA2 are, so it's not anonymous according to our forum rules. AA stands for "authorised anonymous".

Wonder about D3x value after "D800" release...

Post by Stany Buyle »

I wonder about the value drop D3x will do after the eventual release of a 36Mp D700 successor. "Only" 24Mp against 36, no sensor cleaning and 3 years old technology...
I think within a year we might see lots of D3x's for €1500-2000 on Ebay. :?

D3s at the other hand will keep its value quite well I think. I still hope for a D700s with silent shutter and D3s sensor.

I think it would be more logical to issue a D4X @ 36 Mpix. But one day we will know for sure ;)

NR D800 pics: 4 buttons on top dial wheel, flash and...

Post by DiederikVP »

  • I see 4 buttons on the top dial wheel, compared to the D700, the fourth button might be a bracketing button... (1)
  • A AF-mode dial like D7000 (2)
  • A pop up flash (3)

Well spotted. BKT button on top would be great.

Intentional leaking?

Post by Stany Buyle »

After having observed the recently leaked pics of D800 on nikonrumours (http://nikonrumors.com/) and after having lived remarkable correct leaks of information in the past on NR(Nikon 1, Nikon D7000 and more), Dpreview(remember the D200 cell phone pics by Jeff-C) and other sites, I am more and more convinced that there is often intentional leaking involved.

TMHO the marketing results of intentional leaking are much better than what you get with a normal announcement. People speculate, discuss for weeks or months about an upcoming product and about "if" the leaked pictures are real or fake while mentioning millions of time the brand name, while with a normal release after 3 days the fuzz is over.
The impact on a google quotation for the product that will be released is very different as well.
I'm quite sure about this...

Why does Nikon let Nikorumors do? Why they do not sue NR for unappropriate use of company secrets? Because they like it the way it goes now and I would not be amazed they even help/sponsor NR to keep their products on the fora discussions where millions of photo enthusiasts participate like we do here ....

More specific about the rumoured D800 my opinion is that the leaked pictures are real, eventually -and also intentionally- a liitle photoshopped to let "real or fake" open for worldwide discussions on thousands of websites.

Intentional leaking creates great and effective publicity, for free!

Business is extremely hypocrite...
This is just my opinion...

Interesting remark on leaked "D800" pics on NR

Post by Stany Buyle »

Just saw an interesting note posted by Michel Lammerse about the so called d800 pics which were published on nikonrumours:
Michel Lammerse wrote: I don't think it will kill the Canon Mark III, if so the 5D Mark III will be an APS-C (DX) camera too, like the camera which is shown on Nikonrumors (mentioned as D800) (http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1021&message=39901951)

Very interesting confirmation by Michel Lammerse.

Post by Stany Buyle »

Michel Lammerse, a Dutch professional photàographer with very good connections in Japan confirmed the several rumours that a D700 successor will be reality soon.
Here the link: http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1021&message=40033991

Miche Lammerse wrote:
There will be 2 new camera's available beginning of coming year.

A follow up of the D3S (almost sure an 18MP camera)
A follow up of the D700 (rumored 36MP camera)

Both are more or less confirmed by a Japanese colleague of me.

He himself will join a presentation of new equipment in January. Usually he is not so open about it. I'm sure it's correct, otherwise he would not have said it

Also the information of Nikonrumors is probable correct about the details of the D700 follow up.

Interesting fact is that both cameras' are already for months being tested by photographers world wide.
