Little problem with D7000

Little problem with D7000

I tought that the camera shut down after a while,but this doesn't work with my D7000.
I can't find it in the manuel.
Can somebody please help me?

D7000 and any nikon dslr has to be switched off with the power button.

The camera switches to a kind of standby mode but you need to use the switch to turn it off.
