3 years ago I was very impressed with this 70-200VRII+TC-20 E III combo on my D700, so now I'm interested how it performs on my D800E...
AF with this combo works like a charm on D800(E), -as expected-, also for birds in flight. "Keepers rate"(subject in focus) during this session was over 90%.
Until now only 4 images with 100% crops, all taken handhold in windy conditions. Most at iso 640 and F5.6... aperture that does not make me expect very sharp images.
This 70-200VRII+TC-20 E III was doing excellent on my D700 at F7.1.
No sharpening of any kind has been applied to these images.
This topic will be completed with more samples in the coming days...
Iso 640 and F5.6, 1/1600 sec
and a 100% crop:
Iso 640 and F5.6, 1/1000 sec
and a 100% crop:
Iso 640 and F5.6, 1/2000 sec. This picture was initially underexposed and I pushed 1.0 EV, which brings some noise...
and a 100% crop:
Iso 640 and F5.6, 1/1600 sec
and a 100% crop:
Thanks for your attention and kindest regards,
