Just ordered my D810...

Post by Stany Buyle »

While I take the rumoured release date of the D810 on June 26th for 100%, I ordered my D810 by mail today and I am waiting for the reaction of my dealer...
Based on some info from an insider I expect availability by the end of July.
  • According to the rumoured specs I plan to upgrade from D800e to D810 for a higher resolution screen and 6 fps at full resolution. For macro shooting both better LCD and speed increase are quite important...
  • Further more I hope there will be a real "silent mode" as well. Until now the silent modes both in my D3s(which I sold-regret...) and D800 are a joke...
  • AF evolution like D4 -> D4s is welcome.
  • 1 stop gain in iso performance might be interesting but would not be a reason for upgrade to me...
  • ...
The period before a major release is always very exciting... :o

Update 26/06/2014: Underwhile D810 is available for pre-order at A & C:

For wildlife and macro I like to have speed, best possible AF system ànd resolution:
  • Speed for BIF, with option for later cropping:

    And a crop:

  • Outstanding AF system and max resolution: Underneath picture was taken handhold with 105 AF-S micro + 2xTC III

    The scene:

and a 100% crop of the dragonfly eye:

  • fps are important while working with reverse ring for extreme close ups:

fps and AF speed is important while photographing flying insects...

    taking off...

D810 makes 5fps in full resolution and 7fps in crop mode! This is a very nice improvent. It nearly becomes a sports shooter camera...
