auto iso related to FL only a firmware upgrade?

Post by photoforfun »

There are two things that are very interesting in the new Canon which are TMHO only a matter of a firmware upgrade: Different RAW size and auto iso in relation to focal lenght.
When I had the D200 I was shooting smaller in camera JPEG isze when I went to high iso(high iso for for D200), the result was different(much better) about noise as when you resize in PP. I would like to see a 6Mp RAW file size in D3/D700. Somethimes you just don't need a 12Mp file... Kodak 14N had this option many years ago as well...
The auto iso in relation to FL is really a great feature, and it would be even better if users can set it with different options as 1/FL, 1/(2xFL) and 1/(3xFL) with evcentually 1/2 multiplication steps in between...
The appearance of a very nice 5D upgrade is great because it will push Nikon further in the D700 successor with movie mode(which I personnaly find fantastic, like D90) and more Mp for those who need them...

Just my thoughts... I would appreciate your constructive thoughts and comments...
Kindest regards, Stany

Does D3X have auto iso related to FL?

Post by Stany Buyle »

Does somebody know if Nikon implement this great feature in the D3X? Couldn't find it out until now. I believethis shoud be only a matter of a firmware upgrade. Judson crossland ACL photo was mentioning about a new, compact 70-200 F2.8 lens in this thread(http://www.fotografie.fr/fotoforum/view ... p?f=9&t=77)In case a 70-200 would appear without VR, auto iso in relation to focal lenght would be nearly a necessity for D3x/D3/D700.
kindest regards,

Stany
