Nikon D7200, next week or March 19th?

Post by Stany Buyle »

I keep reading very different information on a possible D7200 release this week.

To be first in line and tired waiting for an apparently never coming D400, I ordered mine today at Art & Craft.
I plan to use this camera for birding on a trip to Lesbos.
Even though D810 provides a high Mp cropping option, I prefer birding with DX.

According to the Japanese website Digicam-info (most of the time a very trustworthy source):
D7200 will be announced shortly. Will be released in Japan March 19, 2015. Feature of D7200 are as follows.
- Capacity of the buffer is increased
- JPEG (L / FINE) with possible 100 frames of continuous shooting
- Adopt a new 51-point AF unit
- AF performance in the dark is dramatically improved
- Kit lens 18-140mm f / 3.5-5.6G ED VR and 18-300mm f / 3.5-6.3G ED VR
- Set model of the battery pack (MB-D15) is available in limited quantities
Nikon rumors wrote a slightly different -feature wise a very attractive-story on Feb 18th...:
•New 24MP APS-C sensor
Nikon D750 styled body with a tilting screen
•Expeed 4 processor
•MultiCAM 3500DX2 autofocus system
•51 AF points
•Built-in Wi-Fi
•6fps
•Buffer: 16 RAW+JPG
•Video: 1080p @60 and 720p @120 (not sure about 4k)
•Video aperture will be adjustable during live view

It will have a fixed screen.
Now I have an articulated screen on my Panasonic I never use a viewfinder any more in my landscape photography. That is why I think Nikon missed a great chance by not incorporating a (preferably) fully articulated screen in their new camera's. I cannot understand their way of thinking. But maybe it is just me...
