Rokinon question

Post by Guy Van Hooveld »

There are Russian lenses available at crazy prices like this one:

I have had a positive experience with an ARSAT tilt lens and I was wondering if somebody among you have used such a lens ?
I don't expect quality but is it usable when you need extreme reach and 11x15 printouts for instance...

Somebody should just buy one and see...

I guess since it was my idea...

Seriously though, every shot I have ever seen from any mirror lens looks worse than just super cropping and uprezzing in Photoshop from a better IQ & shorter FL lens

Why has every lens to be excellent? Sometimes just the effect of a non excellent lens does the trick. In my opinion a mirror lens like this 800 or 500 lens creates a nice effect and for the few times you use it, it is not worth the money to buy a reputable brand.
I like the effect caused by a mirror lens -espacially for landscape photography- and don't mind the imperfections. i think I 'm gonna buy the 500mm myself; if anyone has bought it all ready, please mail me your experiences.
