Hi,

I see that you are using the D500 and D810 with the 200-500.
As I am setting up my gear...please could you guide me which one should I go with...Does the D810 / 200-500 combination work well ? How slow/unreliable is the focus compared to the D500/200-500 combination.
I do not need the 10fps..5-6fps in the D810 are good for me. I currently use the D90 :).
Does the D500 have a big advantage on the D810 in terms of quality ?

Thanking you in advance.

Kind Regards,
Tabish Anwar Shaikh

Good morning,
Both are great cameras but TMHO D500 is a much better camera for nature photography.
The 1.5 crop factor gives a significant advantage in reach over the D810 with the same lens.
D500 IQ is incredible for DX, MUCH better IQ than D700, equal to D800 but with the crop and speed advantage.
Here two thumbnails of a scene taken from the same distance with the same lens on D810 vs D500:

And here when you are looking at 100% view to both pictures:

With D810 and 200-500 @ 500mm:

Thank you for your feedback...
If you had the option to use just one camera...would it be the d810 or the D500.
Kind Regards,
Tabish

This depends for most people on the lenses you already have.
I my case I would go for the D500, for reason of speed, buffer, 1.5 crop, AF field coverage, AF speed advantage (D500 is focusing faster than D810 and even faster than D4s...
Kindest regards,
Stany
