I was invited @ a 5DMkII demoday @ audiophil in Aachen -Germany. A 300km one way drive that was worth the visit. I buy my gear over there since over two years. They have an incredible stock, great service and a impressive knowledge about photography and equipment. Next to that they are always friendly and patient while handling your requests, even if you go only for an item of 5€ or even a free service after sales... What's also important is that they help you in 4 languages (German, French, English and Dutch). Simply great! http://www.audiophilfoto.de/index2.php
I had the opportunity to use the 5DMII for about an hour and I will post my impressions on my website asap(I guess monday...). I could snap in my CF card and I took a couple of pictures but unfortunately I cannot post any because it was a preproduction model and I'm not allowed to put any of these pictures on the internet. What I can confirm though is that 5DMII IQ is similar to 5D's IQ(which is great) with improved IQ @ high iso and with increased resolution. About handling and features I would resume: Those who liked 5D will love 5DMII...

I shot the 5DII on Saturday in my studio. It has excellent IQ (comparable with my A900). If only it had a decent body.

Hi Pam,pam.meier wrote:I shot the 5DII on Saturday in my studio. It has excellent IQ (comparable with my A900). If only it had a decent body.
Can you please explain what you dislike about the Canon 5DMkII body? In other words, what are to your opinion the main advantages of a Nikon body compared to a Canon body?
Thanks.
kindest regards,
Stany

It is probably me, but I don´t like the ergonomics of the 5DI or II. As you may know I owned the 5DI and to me it was a spartanic camera.
Either use the middle autofocus point and reframe or focus manually. It had its charms and so does the 5DII, but the D3 just fits my hands so well, it is the near-perfect camera with a very good AF as you proved with your bee in flight image. To me it is the perfect allround camera and it will only be bettered with a video function and 18 Mpix image sensor. This will get me tempted.
