Working fast with Nikon View NX-i and Capture NX-D combo

I am a long time Nikon software user and even though I have PS and LR, I still prefer Capture NX.

Main complaint about Nikon software is speed.
My recommendations to work fast with NX-i & Capture NX-D software:
  • Use a (fast) SSD to run NX-i & Capture NX-D software
If you want things to go very fast, use a second SSD for your pictures. (I use a Samsung EVO 840 for OS and programs and a Samsung EVO 850 1Tb for picture storage, viewing and processing)
  • Before starting to sort, preview or PP pictures, always copy your images from your camera CF, SD or XQD card to your SSD
  • For viewing images fast in NX-i  Menu  View/Viewer/preview (not RAW)
  • Move your NX-i cache to the SSD. Menu  Edit/options/cache location
  • Move NX-D cache to the SSD. Menu  Edit/preferences/general/specify cache folder
