Re: DX0 pro7.1
I downloaded DXO last week and gave it a try. Here are some casual observations.
PRO:
1- Great noise reduction without losing detail. Very impressive. Less noise than ACR 6.6. I tried for a LONG time to duplicate this in ACR. No luck.
2- Minimal moire' and maze artifacts - slightly less than ACR. A real strong point.
3- Great color profile using the Nikon D7000. Very vibrant and a ton of micro-contrast. Easily duplicated in ACR.
4- Some tone mapping done automatically by default. This can be easily over-ridden in the manual mode.
CONS:
1- Very convoluted work flow. Not very intuitive requiring a lot of work to be able to make it function well. The GUI needs a major work-over.
2- Many times slower in conversion relative to ACR.
Bottom line: At this time I choose to stick with ACR - mostly as a huge time saver.
