Close up with wide angle lens...

Post by Stany Buyle »

After reading an interesting article about close up photography with a wide angle and extention tube I tried it for myself. I like the possibilities of this setup.
Will work on it to get better...

My first attemps with Nikon D700 and 16-35 F4 with extention tube, captured at approx 5 cm from the subject:

Thanks for looking.

I don't know much of the theory behind it, but what is the advantage over a normal macro lens? Extended depth of field? Or a wider angle of view? Or both?

Only the much wider angle of view while having the main subject quite close, an effect, -)special effect- which is impossible with a classic macro lens.
Unfortunately I don't have the right to copy the article from chasseurd d'images about this here, but they have some great samples and it's interesting.
kindest regards,

Stany

The principle looks very attractive, the subject and backgrounds should be chosen very carefull.
Passioned by beautiful pictures, not a very active photographer though...

Vincent

PS I use google translate a lot to write better English. So, if mistake, I's google, not me. ;)

Quite nice article. The images were quite an eye opener and they brought back memories from a long time ago. I had almost forgotten how effective this wide angle technique works.
