Magification comparison:macro(1:1) vs reverse lens technique

Post by Stany Buyle »

As I mentioned already in my first topic about lens reverse technique (http://www.fotografie.fr/fotoforum/view ... f=21&t=181) I learned to use this technique from Mark Dijsselberge (http://blog.mdsign.nl/ ), a real master in this field.
Preparing myself to use this more in the coming months, when insects wll show up, I was training a little bit and I wanted to know how magnification ratio differ between the use of a classic macro lens(in this case a Nikkor 105VR) @ 1:1(closest AF point) and a 24mm nikkor reversed on a D700.
While a picture says more than a thousand words...

Hi Guy,
Yes, for macro I use extention tubes very often, depending on the situation...
The upcoming new nikon 2XTCII will also be in my bag as soon as it's available, it will be used with both my 105 AF-S VR and my 180mm macros.
For bees in flight, a 360mm macro lens seems attractive...
Underneath a picture with 105AF-S VR and kenko 2XTC pro300...

some more pics with this combo here.
kindest regards,

Stany
