Tamron 150-600VC first impressions...

Bought my Tamron 150-600 VC at Art & Craft in Ghent (B)
After a week of use : a real bargain for what it offers: Quite fast AF on my D800e, little to no hunting even in relative low light, sharp images -also at 600mm-, very good image stabilisation. Focus limiter is very useful for BIF. Full focus range is even useable for some kind of close up photography like flowers, mushrooms and more. Even though compact and light compared to other lenses in that range, it's rather heavy while carrying all day long.
A more complete user review with many images will follow later this month...
This lens is a winner which I can only recommend to all wildlife lovers... :D

This is a rather heavy lens to carry around, like you said.
I think its main use will be from a tripod from some hiding place. At least I would not be very happy to shoot a whole day BIF and that handhold....
(The more I read things like this, the happier I am with my choice of the M43 system. The Panny equivalent of 100-300 0r Oly 75-300 are so much lighter and cheaper that I daren't compare... )

Image was taken handhold, iso 800; 1/1000 sec and F6.3. Captured in NEF, post processed in Capture NX2.4.7

The original view as seen in Nikon View NX 2.10:

As you can see in underneath screenshot of a thumbnail, subject was quite far away, taking 600mm focal in consideration...

...and the exif as seen in NikonViex NX 2.10:

More images with this magnificent lens tomorrow or later this week...

Thanks for looking and kindest regards,
