Why a webcam is better than a DSLR for planet photography

After communication with Dodi on this subject I learned that a webcam is much better than a high quality DSLR for planet photography. Why?

Planets are so small that a full frame sensor is wasting virtually all of the photosites. A webcam, on the other hand, has a small sensor with tiny photosites but is large enough to capture the target. For regular photography, this sucks because of the noise, especially for low light shots. But when you stack a lot of shots, the noise is vastly reduced. Advantage small, cheapo sensor
On the other hand, if you shoot deep space objects (DSO) which are much larger than planets, the D800E is quite nice. dave
