Interesting... Just discovered my card reader is defective.
Good news anyhow while after I saw these images appear on my screen I thought whether my CF card, or worse my camera failed... But no it's just my card reader...
I don't know about other users experiences with CRs, but mine never last long time. No idea why...
Kindest regards,
Stany

Re: Defective Card reader
A few years ago I had the same experience. I was shocked to death as I just came home and the card contained almost a complete wedding I covered. Luckily a new card reader brought the solution.
So I can imagine your fears of losing your images.

Re: Defective Card reader
BTW, it was not as bad as in the film era. I once had a film (of another wedding) ruined because the lab made a terrible mistake in the development of it. I lost 15 images, but nobody ever noticed it, between the lots of images I had shot. The laboratory, realizing their mistake, after I complained, did send me a box of 50(!) new films to compensate for the loss, although they had excluded the responsibility for their mistakes. Rather generous!

Re: Defective Card reader
No, I did not see it, although I have followed the news about it.
I am mainly interested in m4/3 cameras now although I 'm not planning any upgrade in the near future. I really love its weight and size, next to its fantastic results. Moreover, I don't have the intention to print anything larger than 50x70 (20x28 inch), so 16 megapixel is enough for that purpose. And, it has a tilting screen; it reminds me often of my 6x4,5 Mamiya , especially when shooting from a tripod.
I am very curious about what you might have in mind, so I will eagerly await your news.

Sandisk USB 3.0 Image Mate All-in-One
Just got my Sandisk USB 3.0 Image Mate All-in-One from Art & Craft and I'm positive. Very fast downloading of approx 20 uncompressed D810 files (75Mb each).
kindest regards,
Stany

Sandisk USB 3.0 CR: contact bending very easy
After all I'm not happy with the Sandisk USB 3.0 CR because the CF contacts are bending very easy while the sleeve isn't deep enough which makes it easy not to insert the CF card straight into the card reader.
I'm curious if Sandisk is going to replace this one...
And with a close view it looks like this:
