Nikon Z for wildlife action
2019 09 19 a new related topic: My Z6' & Z7' AF optimisation setup...
Z is simply great for action, if you have the patience to learn to handle the system... It's very different than DSLR.
Underneath two images captured with my Z6 @ 12 fps. 0.1 sec between both images, tack sharp. The weather was cloudy and lightning was poor, so what you see are images taken @ iso 5000 with Z6 + 500mm PF.

Nikon Z + 500 F5.6E PF autofocuses on a mosquito in flight
I was amazed about the ease my Z6 combined with the nikon 500 F5.6E PF focuses on a mosquito in flight .
Underneath is a 100% crop of the original, with paste of a screenshot exif as you see in nikon View NX-D.
I tried this endlessly with my 200-500 as well but without succes … As I like top quality zooms more than primes...

related topic: My Z6' & Z7' AF optimisation setup...
2020 02 18 - Update after FU 3.00 for Z7 (and Z6):
With this update Z' now has a ML' AF focusing system that is as good, or perhaps even better than Sony'ML full frame cameras and way better than Fuji and Canon' ML.
The eye and animal eye recognition works incredible well.
The AF tracking became usable now with a modified UI as I hoped for, but still not on D500- AF-locking-speed level for fast moving subjects.
