Re: D600 ..so far so good
Here are a few from a recent visit to a National Trust site in the UK Attingham Park.. The setting in the lavish dining room was literally by (electric simulated) candle light. You could hardly see anything on the table and was wondering 'if' the AF would work at all. These are random photos of the ...

Re: D600 ..so far so good
Hi all I'm getting more use out of the D600 esp since I have had some time and weather better here (UK) for a time. Below; A new found respect for Birders... I found I have poor technique (and probably settings) for anything moving.. the Heron was ok static but following it was not easy.. I got the ...

Re: ViewNX much slower now with D600 files..
Thanks Stany I had an SSD in my laptop but took it out as it was not really large enough for my needs.. it was 128Gb. I took off so much that I really want on it that it became of less real use. Even a 150Gb (doesn't exist) would have been better. My pc needs a 256 at least.. I'm waiting for the pri...

ViewNX much slower now with D600 files..
Hi all I am experiencing a lot of delay now in using the files from the D600 as opposed to those of the D700 i have used recently. There is always a delay in zooming into whatever files I have used in the past but this is a lot more noticeable. my pc is not cutting edge but not really slow either. E...

Re: D600 ..so far so good
When I said above..' I will keep away from 24mm setting' I mean't when 'needing' sharp corners. They are little soft there but as I said.. If it's not necessary or part of the story.. why not.

Re: D600 ..so far so good
Hi Stany I must be a creature of habit.. I looked back over the last three camera's files and I have quite similar photos of the same scene. Probably an excuse to test out the new gear and comparing. The date of taking the photos are close to the same month of the year. With this particular place it...

D600 ..so far so good
I have had the D600 for about a week now.. I'm not going to say anything definitive about the camera as a whole (too early for conclusions) from my point of view but only what I can say that has been obvious to me. I went to a favourite place yesterday; Baddesley Clinton (West Midlands UK) I have vi...

Offer: D7000 plus 16-85 VR
Hi everyone. I'm selling my D7000 and 16-85mm AFS VR will separate. The D7000 is in excellent condition. one owner from new. It's out of warranty now but only has 5907 clicks on it. It has the original unmarked box (nice if it's a gift) and has everything originally supplied. strap never used. Just ...

Re: Dust problem with D600
Hi Stany I have a 24-120 VR 3.5-5.6 which has been a favourite lens for me. It not the league of the lenses you have been testing recently, Stany! Perhaps it is not classed as stellar, but i never had the 'this is the worst lens ever' moment with that lens; it was best on my D700 (when I had it) and...

a view from some professionals.. yesterday
Hi all I have been monitoring this situation from a position of comfort (not being smug) I have at present a D7000 which has not presented any of the problems that that was supposedly suffering from. I had no pressing need to change to a D600 instantly. If you look past all the smoke and listen to t...

need never stopped most people buying 'stuff' I don't 'need' most of my stuff. Most of it is convenience (improvements in certain areas . i don't need 6fps. can't ever remember using it for a job or hobby use) However problems do usually crop up when changing my cameras. I'm usually on upgrade behi...

no announcement then..
I agree. D7100 more likely.
Shame for the D300/s shooters.. it's been a long time since they had anything to look forward to.

Re: D600 discussion thread...
Hi Stany I think they will sell it in bucket loads... If the D700 hadn't been so heavy I might have kept it (esp with an f2.8 24-70 on it) i'm not in the market for a change just yet.. I like the D7000 I have. i Miss the slightly cleaner higher ISO of the D700 but like the DR @ ISO 100 more on the d...

strange encounter with Nikon Europe
Hi everyone I have had my D7000 and 16-85 combo since release.. Nov 2010. I put the camera through a few basic steps when I got it.. fine Tune AF as with all the previous cameras I have had with the facility.. I eventually set it to -5 for the 16-85. I noticed this year when using the 16mm end that ...

Sale /Exchange Nikon Series E 100mm f2.8
SOLD Hi everyone I have an excellent copy of this very sharp lens. I don't mind a normal sale but prefer to exchange it for something that will AF with my D60.. (AFS/HSM etc) Perhaps someone has a kit lens they don't use anymore? What have you got? Some recent examples posted on my DPR Gallery, clo...

this could
belay a new purchase for some time.. the gains in performance are real.. cost is a factor at present; many laptops have > 120gb drives.. A lot of SSD drives are at that capacity now but not exactly cheap. They will come down in price as take up grows. If you are fortunate enough to have a twin HD ba...
