Mooie maanbeelden in elk geval. Maar dat oculair zou ik achterwege laten. Vergroten kan je beter met een goede barlow lens. Oculair geeft randonscherpte.

Re: Dodi, any idea for a precise focuser?

Re: D600 release probability before PK is not 80%, but 100%
The most important feature will be AF lens tuning. If that is not included, I will pass. Sharpness with larger sensors depends too much on critical AF tuning of the fast primes. Hope Nikon did not cut that feature out. Couldn't care less if there is no focus motor in that body, in the meantime all m...

Nikon D800 infrared test
For info, I made this image with D800 and a Neewer 850Nm infrared filter as a test to see how far I could get with the D800 in infrared. Pushing the ISO to 6400 and wide open, could just make a handheld image with 24mm 2.8 AIS lens. Exposure was 0.3s. Weather permitting (wind!), and on a tripod, it ...

First D800 PJ image in De Standaard newspaper?
Of course I can't be sure, but I think this picture may very well be the first PJ image made with D800 appearing in De Standaard. I already had a few in Het Nieuwsblad before too, being a freelance reporter for the Corelio group. I made the entire May 1 coverage in Gent with the D800, very pleased w...

D800, bird in flight
Well, a pigeon is a bird is it. When you live in a flat in the city, not many raptors flying around. So I have to do with an occasional pigeon fly-by. The D800 did not let me down in terms of focusing speed and accuracy. Made a series of 4 images, only one was OOF - but that was because the bird was...

Astro-First starlight with modified Canon 40D
Hi guys, Once in a while, and during holidays, I aim the Canon upwards to the sky. This is an image made back in 2009 with a modified Canon 40D. The IR blocker in front of the chip was replaced by weaker blocker to allow more red light to enter the camera. http://www.myphotogallery.name/Dodi/Dodi-20...

Re: Question for astrophotography experts...
Likely you will not see a lot of differences here. All depends on the focal length. For longer focal lengths, with either camera you are oversampling. You won't notice the difference. For widefield and shorter telework, the D800e could be a little bit better, but air turbulence will likely destroy t...

How to correct amplifier glow at pushed high ISO with D800 People trying to make raw images at H2 or pushed H2 with the new Nikon D800 have surely already noticed the blue-magenta cast on the image, with a band running along the longer side of the image, likely caused by amplifier glow. Fwiw, even t...

You could put a Polaroid frame around it. Looks like old Polaroid to me
Now, seriously, you could take a bias frame with the cap on the lens, and substract it from the original to reduce the amplifier glow.

Re: Lens AF-finetuning: Do YOU finetune your lenses and how?
Well, I know one can do AF tuning with test charts, and LCD screens, but I use a more pragmatic approach since years. First of all, I take 3 identical boxes (I use cigarette boxes - bad habit) and position them on the table at different distances. Spacing depends on the focal length of the lens. I f...

Interesting reviews, thanks for sharing. I was thinking about this lens too, as my 14-24 with the big and delicate front element is not always the best lens to use in crowded and less friendly places. Since I am also using DX format next to FX, I have the Nikon 10-24 AF-S. This works without too muc...
