Dragonfly eyes with a 400mm zoom lens

Post by Stany Buyle »

Good afternoon!

A couple of months ago, -driven by curiosity-, I bought an EF/EFS - Nikon Z fringer adapter through the fringer company website and a Canon 100-400 at Art & Craft in Ghent (B). It works fine on both my Z6 & Z7.
The Canon 100-400 is an excellent, very fast focusing and sharp tele zoom with a very short minimum focusing distance for this kind of glass.
The combination of very fast and close focusing was the reason for this purchase, which makes it attractive for nature walks and more specific the combination of f.i. dragonflies and kingfisher photography.
To carry around (size & weight), because of significantly faster AF speed and much closer focusing distance I prefer this Canon tele zoom over my 200-500( 1,640 vs 2,300 kg...)

A beautiful dragonfly, taken handheld. (exif pasted in the picture) and next to it a 100% crop.

Thanks for looking,
Kindest regards,
Stany
