related topic Zwaluwen in vlucht - Swallows in flight
This morning I went to a local little lake where many swallows are gathering.
I took about 6000 pictures in 2 hours time. All handheld. Weather was cloudy and very much wind. At some point the strong wind was handsome because it sometimes slowed down the flight speed.
As the main problem was to keep the fast-moving birds in the viewfinder at 400mm, -with the bird as close as possible-, there were approx 1000 pictures with a complete swallow in the image.
From those 1000, approx 65% were in focus with clear feather detail.
Because of the high speed they're flying, I shot exclusive 1/8000/sec
Among those, some were captured quite close.nUnderneath one of those, with 100% crop & EXIF pasted.
The main image is as it came straight out of the camera, no PP, no additional sharpening.
Image taken in raw and converted in dpp4. Shadow lift +2
Thanks for looking,
