Dragonfly in flight with EOS R5 and RF 100-400/5.6-8.0 IS

Post by Stany Buyle »

From this morning, a dragonfly-in-flight with my R5 & RF 100-400/5.6-8.0 IS.
Shooting conditions were optimal. Sunny, no wind so I could go for a slower shutter speed than I normally use for dragonflies-in-flight. Slow shutter speed shows wing motion, what I like better than "frozen" wings at very fast shutter speeds.
Distance to the subject for underneath image (according to Adobe bridge) was 2.9meters.
I had hundreds of images to choose from because the incredible EOS R5 'AF was nailing focus all the time. I picked out one...
Converted from RAW to jpeg with DPP 4.16.11.0, my favorite software for Canon RAW file processing, after sorting with Fast stone image viewer or ACDSee ultimate 2022. No additional post-processing or sharpening.
The crop has been resized to 1500px longest side and a 100% crop, as well as the exif, has been pasted into the picture.
