Question for astrophotography experts...

Post by Stany Buyle »

A question for astrophotography experts: D800 or D800E if you want to use it for astrophotography, and why...
I think I know the answer but I would like it to be explained by an expert.
Thanks in advance,

Likely you will not see a lot of differences here. All depends on the focal length. For longer focal lengths, with either camera you are oversampling. You won't notice the difference. For widefield and shorter telework, the D800e could be a little bit better, but air turbulence will likely destroy the advantage. Faint stars may even render nicer with the D800, due to some aliasing taking place.
