Breaking news: DPReview.com to close
Moderator: Stany Buyle
Won't happen...
Won't happen. I think this is part of a survey to check popularity and evaluate the possibilities to sell that website or, -if it is sold already-, a preparation to come with "great news" on April 10th.
I posted this on Dpreview as well but it's only visible for myself, not visible for others. A moderation trick they use for years already, the same with signature, links or comments the staff doesn't/didn't like.
Only hallelujah comments are allowed, still now.

Re: Breaking news: DPReview.com to close
First of all, happy Eastern!
Secondly: The absolute best photography forum I know is www.belgiumdigital.com/ , with an annual membership fee of € 55
Language is Dutch.
Founded in 1999, it still works very well and is profitable.
Very friendly communication between members, sharing photography' passion, pictures and knowledge... No anonymous participation, I mean the staff knows "who is who"...
There is a topic on the closure of dpreview: *translation:* For free doesn't work, Dpreview closing.
TMHO the power of Dpreview was the classic written camera reviews section, **not** the fora.

My prediction was dead on.
Under the false announcement that Dpreview was going to close they could get rid of some expensive subcontractors while plans to sell and continue with the core team rather than close the site were for sure going on.
Now they come with the big news and we should applaud...
